Michael T. Ryan - Bio

Michael T. Ryan got his start in the film industry through a chance phone call to a sound effects editing company. After taking a job there as a driver/courier, he worked his way up through the company to become a Dialogue Editor and eventually a Supervising Dialogue Editor. While working on various television shows and small feature films, he became acquainted with the music editors at Segue Music and was eventually offered a position there as Assistant Music Editor. As he had done similarly before, he rose through the ranks of this company to become a Supervising Music Editor. After working at Segue for 12 years, Michael chose to leave the company and became one of the co-founders of Mad 4 Music.

In addition to his work in feature films, Michael is the music editor, and one of the instructors, for the annual ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop, sharing his experience in the art and craft of music editing with up and coming composers. He is also a frequent guest speaker in several university film and music programs. He is on the board of directors of the Motion Picture Sound Editors as well as a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Television Academy, the Recording Academy, and the American Federation of Musicians. Michael has been nominated for the MPSE Golden Reel Award for Music Editing 12 times and has won once.
